Education without Religion

"To prevent evil, we hear it said, cultivate and strengthen the higher faculties of man. Now, Christianity is the one appointed means of doing this. To attempt doing it without Christianity, is repeating the sin of Adam, who sought a knowledge of things on grounds other than the will of God; but with this aggravation, that it is done after the melancholy experience of six thousand years has shown how ruinous was its nature."
