Worth Thinking About

The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ was organized for the purpose of spreading the gospel. The great commission, ''Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature," evidently implied that the glad tidings of salvation were to be spread as soon as possible, and as widely as possible. The commission was given to the church, and not to the immediate personal disciples of our Lord exclusively. It was not to cease, nor to die out with that generation. Nothing can be plainer than this. But any great charge entrusted to the church, must in a greater or less degree, be entrusted to every individual member of the church. The church is made up of individuals. It can do nothing except as its members work, and work together. Consequently, it must be plain that the responsibility of spreading the gospel is, in some degree, placed upon each individual member of the church.
