Satan, the father of lies, can declare the most important truths when it will serve his purpose; and if he were permitted, he could do more mischief by ingeniously connecting the doctrines of the gospel with pernicious errors and immoral practices, than by every species of superstition, persecution, and infidelity. Much he actually effects in this way, by means of Antinomian, enthusiastical, and scandalous preachers; who, being confounded with the real servants of Christ, bring them also into contempt and abhorrence in the estimation of superficial observers.
